Travel

When Mr. and Mrs. travel for recreation, we want to go along too. We live near the Lake Erie Coastal Zone so we don't have to travel far to find things to do and people are generally pretty nice to us.  We occasionally go to places that you will not see in guidebooks or hear about at resorts but they are places that we spend time together as a family. The Mrs. doesn’t think it is easy traveling with 4 dogs. She says it was easier traveling with two  -  she never traveled with just one dog.

                         Camping in our pop-up
We use to take short trips and stay in tents and then when we got older we got a pop-up camper. Now that there are more pet-friendly properties like cabins and lodges, we stay there.

We look for things like lodging in advance and we make sure there is a veterinarian or animal hospital nearby in case one of us gets hurt or becomes ill
We also make sure there is a fenced-in dog park where we can run and play ball.

at Van Buren State Park in Van Buren, Ohio

Two of us like to swim. We are always on the lookout for a dog-friendly beach or pool where we can swim and Monroe and Lucky can sit on the blanket or play in the sand.

Playing fetch at Acton Lake Hueston's Woods State Park in College Corner, Ohio

at Lakeside Chautauqua,  Lakeside, Ohio. Here we are resting just beyond the Hotel Lakeside which was built in 1875. We generally sit outside on the sidewalk or patio or search for some shelter where we have a view of the lake.

Here two of us are waiting for a snack at

Ooh La La Fine Food Fine Art, in Lakeside, Ohio.

A few times a year we do visit the lighthouses.

Here were are on the grass at Marblehead Lighthouse State Park.
The coolest thing about this lighthouse is it's the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes.

We walk along the path to the lifesaving station museum. We were here to watch them frame it years ago.

we like to walk around the  Keeper's House Museum

and enjoy walking along the path to Port Clinton Lighthouse replica

Our family appreciates old mills so we have been to Indian Mill in Upper Sandusky, Ohio many times. There is a museum inside and we're told it is filled with treasures. We spend time at the park across from it.

We have been to many covered bridges but the one we have seen the most is the  Ceylon Covered bridge near Berne Indiana as we like to spend time at Limberlost Park too.

while we are near Berne we usually stop over at Geneva, Indiana, and visit Gene Stratton Porters cabin at the Limberlost State Historic Site.

while we're in Indiana we always stop at Pokagon State Park here we are just beyond the Potawatomi Inn. We sit here to watch the swans on Lake James.

Is there anything else you want to tell blog readers?
We admit we do get to do a lot of awesome things. We have traveled in 4 states, been to parades, in festivals, car shows, and one of us spent time in the Gemini mock-up. A replica of the type of spacecraft that carried Neil Armstrong and David Scott into space in 1966.

Finding accommodations for one of us may be much simpler than finding accommodations for all. But we don’t really care where we sleep just as long as we have a place to potty with food and our family nearby.

Here's a video complication of some of the places we've traveled.
