About
Welcome to Coffee and Cockapoos. We are outdoor enthusiasts who live in America’s heartland. We believe in the healing effects of nature and love to hear from those who enjoy pet ownership. We currently have 2 Cockapoo’s; Monroe, Buddy and a Mini Bernedoodle Bindi who join us as we relax into the ease of life with a cozy fire and morning coffee.
What is a Cockapoo?
Cockapoos, Cockapoodle, or Cock-a-Poos, are a crossbreed between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. They are friendly, affectionate dogs who live in houses and love families, children, and other pets. Our cockapoos also like cats.
You all have curly coats, is it hard to take care of?
Cockapoos have fast-growing dense coats so they shed less which is good as the Mr. has allergies. They require daily maintenance. Some have patches of various colors, called ticking. You can read more about grooming here.
Where do you live?
We live near the Lake Erie Coastal Zone so we don't have to travel far to find things to do. We share the beaches, islands, lighthouses, state parks, preserves, and charming villages we love here on the blog.
Do you travel a lot?
We travel frequently on short trips. We spend time at state parks, preserves, and along the coastal highway. Occasionally we go to places that you will not see in guidebooks or hear about at resorts.
What are your Favorite Times?
We enjoy our nature walks and pooch playtime.
How was each of you united with Mr. & Mrs?

1. It All Began with Buddy ( a.k.a. Boo Bear )
We were traveling on vacation when we adopted Buddy. He was 9 months old and had just undergone surgery. The shelter had neutered and chipped him and had given him all his shots. Buddy didn't bark much instead he chewed. The adoption paperwork was quickly signed. After being checked out, and paying the fees and all, Buddy had a new home with us in 2011. We've been informed his coat color is white and apricot parti. Buddy's favorite word is OUTSIDE.
We were inseparable for the rest of the vacation but when we. went back to work, Buddy exhibited poor behaviors. The veterinarian explained that Buddy was experiencing separation anxiety. After 3 months of little to no changes in Buddy's anxiety levels, we adopted another dog (Monroe) so Buddy would have a friend to play with when they were away from home.
2 Monroe ( a.k.a. Monroe Soto or Sir Barks-A-Lot)
passed on November 2, 2024
Monroe was spotted in a shelter online in another state. I immediately fell in love with him even though he was covered in matted hair much worse than his photo above. We adopted Monroe in January of 2012. He had to undergo an immediate vet visit to get all his shots, and tags, and be neutered. As a result, it was a while before he got to play with Buddy and the rest of the family. When fully healed, Monroe was groomed. Monroe's coat color is Dilute Variants of Golden (Blonde, Buff). Monroe's favorite words are DOG PARK

Buddy and Monroe spent years playing together and then Mr. decided it was time for another dog
Motley, was a Christmas gift. He arrived dressed as Santa in 2014. It wasn't long before we all realized Motley had a terrible ear infection but according to the veterinarian, Motley was otherwise very healthy. Motley had to go through a series of shots and some medications and we let his hair grow out. Motley's coat was the gorgeous Tuxedo and he had a soft coat of beautiful black and white curls which he got quite muddy. Motley's favorite word was TREAT.

4 On Valentine's Day 2019, our adoption was finalized for Lucky to be the 4th cockapoo member of our Household. Lucky was a blondish parti and was often mistaken for Monroe. We felt blessed to have Lucky. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a debilitating neurological condition in 2020. Lucky spent a portion of his life in a wheelchair. He passed on June 26, 2022.
New Beginnings
In December 2022, we made a decision to adopt another poodle mix.
We looked at many options and settled on this adorable Mini Bernedoodle.
Mini Bernedoodles are a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Miniature Poodle.
This adorable female we got when she was 6 months old. We named her Bindi. She is a great companion for our tother dogs.
The Mr. & Mrs. met Jake the Diamond Dog.
Is there anything else you want to tell blog readers?
We all want a happy home life. The poodle mixes do get to do a lot of awesome things. We have traveled, been to parades, festivals, and car shows and one of us spent time in the Gemini mock-up. A replica of the type of spacecraft that carried Neil Armstrong and David Scott into space in 1966.

Finding accommodations for one of us may be much simpler than finding accommodations for all. But we don’t really care where we sleep just as long as we have a place to potty with food and our family nearby.
Here's a throwback Christmas photo of the 4 cockapoos ( Motley, Monroe, Lucky, and Buddy) at Christmastime.
We wish to thank our audience for stopping by.
