Choosing a Dog Orthopedic Bed

A short time ago Lucky was diagnosed with neurological dysfunction as he had hind leg weakness. Since that time, I found the Dog Wheelchair Life To-Do List and have been utilizing it to purchase items for Lucky.

Dogs generally sleep between 12 - 18 hours a day so the second item on the to-do checklist is an orthopedic bed.

We stopped at many stores to look at the selections available. We settled on purchasing a 30x40x4 comfy textured orthopedic bed. It has a large soft plush sleep surface.

Lucky is still able to move around using his front legs and he moves frequently so this bed gives him plenty of relaxation space. His hind legs work at times with his right giving out more than his left. You can see he likes to sprawl out and we find this bed does a good job of cushioning his limbs. We also have 4 additional beds nearby if he wants to select another.

The bed is easy to relocate so if we want Lucky to sleep in the bedroom with us at night we just move the bed and him to the new location.

One thing I will need to change is to have a box of wet ones nearby the door. It is raining out this morning and when he went to do his doody his feet got some dirt on them and when we came inside it transferred to his bed.
