Cockapoos and Mini Bernedoodle
One thing we had to consider before getting our new puppy, Bindi, was how our other 2 cockapoos would handle this change. Both dogs, Monroe and Buddy, are 12 years old and we are aware a new puppy has different needs than a senior dog.
While there are many times the dogs enjoy spending time together, we recognize all dogs need individual attention themselves and we exercise the dogs separately and give them individual attention.
Our senior dogs adapted quickly to having a puppy around. Of the two senior dogs, Buddy ( white and apricot parti) is typically less social. Bindi will often cuddle up next to Buddy as if she is looking for his acceptance.
Monroe (Dilute variants of Golden Blonde, Buff) is the more social of the 2 seniors. Monroe still loves to fetch and play and he and Bindi will often chase each other around the house - though Monroe does appear frustrated when Bindi attempts to herd him in the direction she wants him to go.
Bindi does seek attention and we want to make sure she does not pester the dogs too much so we allow the seniors to spend time with each one of us away from Bindi. Here they rest and relax and enjoy our attention.
